Born and raised in Duluth, Minnesota, Dr. Taryn graduated from Carleton College in Northfield, Minnesota with her undergraduate degree in biology, then earned her DVM at the University of Minnesota College of Veterinary Medicine in 2002. In 2008, she completed the International Veterinary Acupuncture Society training course and achieved certification in veterinary acupuncture. In 2020, she completed veterinary chiropractic training at Options for Animals and certification through the International Veterinary Acupuncture Society. Since 2008, she has been practicing exclusively integrative medicine on dogs, cats, and horses.
Dr. Taryn competes with her Arabian gelding Rhio in American Endurance Ride Conference distance rides. In 2020, they achieved a lifetime award called Decade Team, honoring their teamwork and longevity in the sport of endurance. She also acts as a veterinary judge for distance rides. She shares her life with her husband (also a veterinarian) and son, Golden Retriever Birch, Springer Spaniel Smokey, and two Arabian horses.
